You got orders to Camp Lejeune. The housing search started the same day. If you are like most military families, you may go under contract on a house in Jacksonville before you ever set foot in North Carolina.
That is normal. We built our process around it.
FPI is a veteran-owned inspection company serving Jacksonville, Sneads Ferry, Hubert, Swansboro, Richlands, Holly Ridge, and the rest of the Camp Lejeune and New River area. Here is how we make a sight-unseen purchase less of a gamble.
Schedule From Any Duty Station
You do not need to be in North Carolina to book. Our online scheduler works from anywhere, any time zone, any hour. Pick the property, pick the services, pick a date. Your agent or the listing agent handles access to the home. You will get confirmation and reminders by email and text.
If it is 2300 in Okinawa and you just went under contract, you can still book the inspection before you rack out.
The Report Comes to You the Same Day, In Most Cases
Our reports are digital, with photos of everything we call out. In most cases the report is in your inbox the same day as the inspection. That matters when you are working a due diligence clock from three time zones away.
Read it on your phone. Forward it to your agent and lender. Then call us with questions. We will walk through the findings with you by phone at a time that works for your schedule, not just East Coast business hours.
Want eyes on the house beyond the report photos? Ask us when you book. We will tell you what options we can offer for your inspection.
What a Sight-Unseen Buyer Should Actually Order
Around Camp Lejeune, a lot of homes outside city limits are on septic systems, and some are on private wells. Coastal Carolina also has real termite pressure. If you cannot visit the house, the inspection package has to cover the things you cannot see for yourself.
FPI performs all of these in-house, in one visit:
- Full home inspection, roof to crawl space, with photos
- Wood-destroying insect inspection. FPI issues the NC WDIR 100 directly, which VA purchase loans in North Carolina require.
- Septic system inspection
- Radon measurement
- Well water sampling. FPI collects samples and coordinates the lab analysis.
One visit means one access appointment for the agents to coordinate and one report package for you.
A Local Inspector, Not a Call Center
Your inspection is performed by an NC-licensed FPI inspector who works the Jacksonville and Camp Lejeune area. When you call, you are talking to the inspection company, not a booking service. FPI is veteran-owned. We have been on both sides of a PCS and we know what it feels like to buy a house you have not walked through.
A Simple Timeline for the Remote Buyer
- Go under contract. Send us the address or book online.
- We coordinate access with your agent.
- We inspect. You get the digital report, in most cases the same day.
- We review the findings with you by phone.
- You negotiate with facts, not guesses, before your due diligence period ends.
Questions From PCS Families
Can I get a home inspection if I’m not in North Carolina yet?
Yes. You book online or by phone from wherever you are stationed. Your agent handles access. The report is digital and we review it with you by phone.
Will someone walk me through the house on video?
Ask us when you book. Tell us you are buying sight-unseen and we will go over the options we can offer for your inspection.
How fast do I get the report? My due diligence window is short.
In most cases, the same day as the inspection. It is digital, with photos, and you can forward it to your agent and lender immediately.
I’m using a VA loan. Do I need a termite inspection?
In North Carolina, yes. VA purchase loans require a wood-destroying insect inspection here, reported on the NC WDIR 100 form. FPI performs it and issues the form directly during the same visit.
The listing says septic and well. Should I be worried?
Not worried, just thorough. Septic and well systems are common around Jacksonville and they are exactly what you cannot judge from listing photos. FPI inspects the septic system in-house and collects well water samples, then coordinates the lab analysis.
What time zone do you work in? I’m overseas.
We are Eastern time, but the scheduler is open 24/7 and we will set report review calls at hours that work for OCONUS families.
